Contributions to Microsoft's and Facebook's programming languages (C#, SQL, Thrift), runtimes (multi-threading, streaming), privacy and correctness analyzers and software build and test tools. Recipient of the 2016 Harlan D. Mills Award for “Research and research leadership contributions leading to major theoretical and practical advances in software verification”. Until 7/2021 senior software engineer at Facebook's data infrastructure, co-responsible for a new privacy aware programming model for data products, a new streaming and PyTorch preprocessing runtime. Until 9/2016, managed TSE, Microsoft’s main investment into building a single world class engineering system, addressing everything from code review, via build, test, and program analysis, to engineering insights. Until 6/2012, managed RiSE, one of the world’s top software engineering research groups. Primarily focused on research strategy while also working on new areas in browsers, data parallel computing, and software design. Prior to RiSE, focus on research and development in multi-core programming, program verification and analysis, and automatic testing.
