About Dr. Thomas Carlough
Dr. Thomas Carlough is Chief Technology Officer (Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Security) at Papa. Location: New York City Metropolitan Area, United States.
A decade in product, two in healthcare, and three studying social proof. I’m a product and technology leader passionate about making healthcare more accessible. I build products that connect, engage, and empower people because whether the goal is improving access, changing behavior, or strengthening the social fabric around health, it ultimately comes down to helping someone make a decision to act. I began my career as a hospital pharmacist in pediatrics and oncology, then moved into clinical informatics, analytics, and data science. Along the way, I worked on national patient-safety initiatives, helped build a graduate program in health informatics, developed predictive models and population-health products, and learned to connect the economics of healthcare with the outcomes patients need. Eventually, the question became: will people engage? That led me deeper into behavioral economics, social proof, and consumer health. At Wider Circle and Papa, I had the opportunity to build and lead products, teams, and technology focused on helping people access care, navigate healthcare, and make better decisions. The thread through all of it is simple: technology can make healthcare dramatically better, but only when people actually use it. I believe the future of healthcare isn’t just high-tech, it’s deeply human.
