About Terence Thompson

Terence Thompson is Chief Technology Officer at The Climate Service. Location: Washington DC-Baltimore Area, United States.

There is widespread consensus among the scientific community that climate change is a man-made problem that will result in widespread economic, social, and environmental consequences. As a manager of a business, or a CEO of a company, what do you do with this information? As a scientist with over 30 years of experience, I have dedicated the last 10 years of my career focusing on this question. The problem is not a lack of scientific data demonstrating the future impacts of climate change, but translating this data into useful information for a business or agency on future investment decisions, expected profit margin changes, and capabilities shifts. The ability to determine these factors is a vital step in the direction of climate change mitigation. I have extensive experience in climate change data and modeling, mitigation and adaptation techniques, sustainability and energy conservation, and environmental consulting. Prior the co-founding The Climate Service, I was a senior climate analyst at LMI where I led assignments for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and conducted environmental impact assessments and resource portfolio analyses. Prior to that, I served as a technical director for environmental impact models and analyses on aviation noise, air-quality emissions, and climate-related impacts for a subsidiary of Airbus.
