About Stephen Ritter

Stephen Ritter is CTO | Product & Technology Advisor | Founder at src/ at src/. Location: Solana Beach, California, United States.

I’m a product-focused CTO with 30+ years of experience in cybersecurity, AI/ML, and enterprise SaaS. I’ve helped series A+ companies grow into category leaders, guided public companies through platform expansions, and played key roles in M&A and product innovation across multiple industries. Most recently at Kandji, I led the company’s transformation from a single-product MDM business into a multi-product security platform. We launched new offerings in EDR, Vulnerability Management, and AI (with Kai, our first LLM-powered assistant), reduced infrastructure costs by 30%, and scaled the R&D org across San Diego, San Francisco, and Miami. This progress helped support Kandji’s $100M Series D, led by General Catalyst. Before Kandji, I was CTO at Mitek, where I launched the company’s identity verification platform, expanded its product portfolio from one to four, and helped grow revenue from $25M to $180M while maintaining strong financial performance. Earlier, I served as CTO at Emotient (acquired by Apple), where our facial analytics technology contributed to the first version of FaceID. I also led Foundstone at McAfee and built foundational security products in vulnerability management and compliance. I lead with product strategy, technical depth, and a builder’s mindset. My focus is on building high-trust teams, simplifying complexity, and delivering value through innovation, execution, and thoughtful leadership.
