I build software for teams whose data can't go to the cloud. Most of my career has been senior engineering on hard infrastructure. Azure cloud-native and IoT Edge systems at Navico Group, legacy modernization and industrial IoT at Hunter Engineering, and platform work in insurance and healthcare before that. Master's in Computer Science, University of Central Missouri. I'm CTO and co-founder of Skilak Consulting, a small senior team in St. Charles, Missouri. We deliver for federal prime contractors and mid-market companies. Everyone on the team is a senior practitioner. No juniors, no handoffs. The same problem kept coming up on client work: teams that genuinely needed AI, and data that legally could not leave their network. So we started building for it. SkilakSpool is a server that runs open models inside your own building. At handover we put a network capture on the screen and show you it sends nothing out. SkilakThreads is the platform we run our own federal business development on, live every day. SkilakMesh checks what developers send to AI coding tools and stops credentials and sensitive data before they leave. If your data can't leave but your people still need AI, that's the conversation I want to have.
