About Shehzaad Nakhoda

Shehzaad Nakhoda is CTO at VentureDive. Location: Mountain View, California, United States.

I've spent the last three decades building software for scale working with teams that have the passion to deliver impact. The tech revolution of the past four decades driven by ubiquitous access and connectivity of computing devices has created unmatched opportunties to connect people and ideas, solve problems and improve lives. But to realize any of those opportunties in a meaningful way, we need software software systems that are reliable, scalable, performant and trustworthy. My thinking was shaped early on by spending time in the Stanford engineering ecosystem during a period when Silicon Valley was rapidly redefining how software is built and scaled. Since then, my work across Oracle, Salesforce, startups, and now VentureDive has consistently focused on designing systems that perform under real-world complexity. At VentureDive, we've been deeply involved in designing and scaling large consumer and enterprise platforms, and have always grounded in strong engineering fundamentals and real user needs. The proliferation and availablility of AI at the fingertips of every engineer is rapidly transforming how software is built. But that does not shrink the role of the software engineer. It frees up the engineer to aim for even bigger problems to solve. AI is part of every conversation and - with the momentum of its hype - works its way into almost every design discussion. While many problems now have solutions made possible only with the use of AI, many still need to be. Knowing which is which and advocating for the right approach for the right solution for each problem is critical. I’m particularly interested in enterprise AI workflows, internal automation, and building systems that scale responsibly, especially in regional and multilingual contexts. Building impactful software systems still needs obsessive dedication to quality. User interfaces and backends, code and tests, performance and security followed by continuous observability and monitoring are all non-compromisable if you truly want your systems to do what matters - improve lives. Meaningful, impactful systems can only be built by teams of individuals who excel individually and share a common passion. I've been fortunate enough to lead and be a part of teams that have proven that kindness, generosity, excellence and achievement can exist and thrive in the same place at the same time.
