I lead software engineering for Halliburton Landmark, where we build agentic-first systems that help the world's leading energy companies find, model, engineer, and produce the hydrocarbons, geothermal energy, and minerals that power the global economy. Our problems are genuinely hard: petabyte-scale subsurface data, some of the most numerically demanding physics simulations in commercial software, and decisions that must happen orders of magnitude faster than they do today. I run on one belief. Engineers who have a clear problem, a strong connection to the customer base, real ownership of the outcome, and the permission to just do things will deliver faster and unlock more customer value. So I spend my time on three things: removing the barriers to velocity, leading with vision, and building a culture of curiosity. I believe that technical leaders must remain technically competent. I wrote my first serious code on a supercomputer in Fairbanks, where I tested whether massively parallel compression could cut disk I/O on numeric data streams, and my undergraduate fellowship proposal applied autoencoders to security logs. Two AI winters later, the latter is settled science, now with LLM augmentation. My recent work sits in the same lineage: at AWS I built an agentic operating system for network operations, where agents diagnose and resolve conditions on the largest real-time communications network of its kind without a human in the loop. I am applying the same pattern to energy operations now. You will still find me at a whiteboard. The business side matters just as much. I built and led the AWS Energy Solutions Architecture team for the Americas and secured more than $100m in global ARR uplift. At BP I rebuilt global network services across 75 countries and 17,000 fuel stations, and I cut $30m a year in spend by insourcing talent and raising delivery velocity. I carry an MBA in finance and I make investment cases that CFOs and boards accept. I recruit and grow junior engineers, and I have built university work-study partnerships, because the best way to get the talent you need is to make it yourself. West Point graduate.
