About Sebastian T. Gass

Sebastian T. Gass is Chief Technology Officer at Quantum Capital Group. Location: Houston, Texas, United States.

Sebastian Gass is a digital and AI transformation leader at the intersection of energy and private equity. As Chief Technology Officer at Quantum Capital Group, a $35B energy focused PE firm, he is responsible for transforming how the firm and its portfolio invest, operate, and create value through data and AI. His approach is direct. Models and tooling commoditize fast. The durable advantage is proprietary data, expertise, and decision history made continuously usable to sharpen how investment professionals decide and act. To deliver on that approach, Sebastian built the Quantum Energy Cloud, the firm's proprietary AI and data platform that runs Quantum and powers its portfolio companies. The architecture is intentional: domain grounded data first, agentic workflows second, model layer interchangeable. To scale deployment, he established the Quantum Innovation Lab in India, augmenting Quantum's engineering capacity to take AI from idea to production across the firm and its assets. The outcome is institutional intelligence that compounds. Sharper underwriting. Faster diligence. Operational alpha across upstream, midstream, and energy transition. Before Quantum, Sebastian led Chevron's digital transformation as General Manager, Technology and Strategy. Over 13 years he transformed Chevron's North America Upstream business with digital, data science, and cloud, and led the company's enterprise cloud transition. Earlier, he was CTO and EVP of Trade Ranger / Hubwoo, a publicly traded European spend management and B2B commerce company serving the energy industry. He started his career at SAP in Palo Alto. Sebastian serves on the AI advisory board of Titanium Innovation Investments and speaks on AI in energy and private equity at industry forums including CERAWeek. He holds a Diplom-Wirtschaftsingenieur (M.S. Industrial Engineering and Management) from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and an M.S. in Engineering Management from Stanford University.
