Rush Taggart served as Chief Security Officer of CardConnect, LLC., retiring in November, 2018. CardConnect is a provider of payment card services to merchants, including acquiring, servicing, processing and security. CardConnect markets to two major segments: large companies using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, and JD Edwards, and small and medium companies using retail and virtual terminals. The CardConnect payment gateway and security solutions were largely built by Rush while at Princeton Payment Solutions, acquired by CardConnect in 2012.The CardConnect technology team now numbers over 50 staff members, focused on delivering reliable and functional solutions to our merchants. These include CardPointe for merchants, CoPilot for merchant acquisition and support, the Payment Gateway for processing, and CardSecure for cardholder data encryption and tokenization. Professional Background 2007 – Present CardConnect and Princeton Payment Solutions Using the existing Payware gateway and CardSecure encryption C++ applications as a foundation, Rush rewrote both into Java calling the new gateway software “CardConnect”. Substantial functionality was added to the products to broaden the potential customer base. Product evolution has continued rapidly since the acquisition. 1999-2006 Various IT leadership positions Rush joined a payments startup in 1999 as the IT leader and scaled the company from under 20 to over 200 employees. The company was acquired and relocated after the 2001 tech crash. Rush joined another payments startup which failed to gain market adoption. Rush served as IT leader for an academic institution for 18 months. 1981-1984, 1986 – 1999 Major New York Bank Rush started in Funds Transfer salvaging two major systems from failure. He moved to Capital Markets supporting trading floor technologies, culminating with the implementation of a new 450 person trading facility.
