Ronald Berk is CTO and Principal Consultant at Hyde Engineering + Consulting. Location: Boulder, Colorado, United States.
As CTO, I am responsible for all engineering projects within Hyde-EC, and the technology applied in our solutions As Principal Engineer, I provide engineering and consulting services to our clients. I have extensive experience in project management, bioprocess design/consultation for new and existing bioprocess pilot and production facilities. I have extensive experience in sanitary and aseptic design and am a member of the ASME BPE System Design subcommittee. Additionally, I have hands on experience in commissioning, system start-ups, cycle tuning and troubleshooting for process equipment, CIP systems, SIP and related manufacturing systems. I started my career at Hyde-EC in 1999 - my previous functions have been COO, Regional Director of Mountain States Operations, Director of Process Systems, and Senior Engineer. My career began as a Process and Design Engineer with the Dutch engineering company Nucon Nuclear Technology. Stationed in San Jose, CA. I was responsible for plant layout design including piping plans and isometrics of various cooling and clean-up systems in addition to serving as liaison engineer for the European office for the Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (SBWR) project. In 1992 I joined Stork Engineers and Contractors, later to be Jacobs Engineering in the Netherlands. As a Process Engineer, I was responsible for safety analyses, process/system design, and project engineering at various projects for Nuclear Power Plants in the Netherlands, Switzerland and the Ukraine. In addition to my depth of experience in design and project management, I have supported expert witnesses on complex litigation cases for large construction projects, providing liability, responsiveness, man loading and cost analyses. I graduated from the Higher Technical College Amsterdam with a B.S in Chemical Engineering in 1987 with a minor in Business Management and completed training in Total Quality Management in 1995 when working for Stork Engineers and Contractors.
