About Rich Davis

Rich Davis is Chief Technology Officer at Haptiq. Location: Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Area, United States.

I'm a founder-CTO. I built Haptiq from a small consulting practice into a digital transformation firm anchored by an AI enterprise platform serving private equity portfolio companies, and sold it to a PE partner. Since the acquisition, I've led the engineering organization through significant post-acquisition growth, building out the team, the platform, and the technical practices that scaled with it. The current chapter centers on Haptiq’s AI enterprise platform, a production multi-agent system providing portfolio companies with natural-language access to their financial, document, and database systems. Built on LangChain, LangGraph, Pydantic, and OpenAI, the architecture utilizes a planner-executor orchestrator to route queries across specialized services, including RAG retrieval, email, reporting, and text-to-SQL across Snowflake and MSSQL via MCP. As CTO, I spearheaded the Pydantic-typed agent-node framework, which enables the team to compose new domain capabilities without modifying the core orchestrator. I have also prioritized the implementation of a robust evaluation infrastructure, focusing on text-to-SQL benchmarking, orchestrator-level eval suites, and regression tracking for prompt and schema-context changes to ensure production-grade reliability. Before this, I built and scaled engineering organizations across consumer tech and B2B SaaS, most notably as CTO at Lulu (2005–2008), where I led the team through concept-to-$40M revenue with 200–255% YoY growth, scaled the application platform to 1.5M+ users, and built the agile R&D and QA practices that supported that growth. I specialize in institutionalizing informal technical practices with a career-long focus on Agile, DevOps, observability, compliance (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA), and now agentic AI. My expertise lies in hiring and developing engineering leadership while operating across the full stack, from my early career roots in kernel drivers to modern multi-agent LLM systems. Above all, I prioritize the ability to translate effectively between engineering, sales, operations, and the C-suite, believing this alignment matters more than any specific technology.
