I have worked in the areas of motors, generators, electromechanical systems, applied superconductivity, analysis-led design, and multiphysics modeling since 1999. I earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Université Henri Poincaré (now Universite de Lorraine), Nancy, France, in 2002. Following my doctorate, I spent six years at the Center for Advanced Power Systems at Florida State University, where I contributed to the development of high-power-density superconducting machines for aircraft propulsion and the numerical modeling of electro-thermal instabilities in superconductors. Concurrently, I held an adjunct faculty appointment in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. In 2009, I joined Advanced Magnet Lab (AML) as a Senior Scientist, focusing on superconducting motors and generators, resistive and superconducting magnets, and advanced multiphysics modeling. From 2012 to May 2018, I served as a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston and as a Principal Investigator at the Texas Center for Superconductivity. I returned to AML in 2018 and currently serve as Chief Technology Officer, where I lead the development of permanent magnets based on AML’s proprietary PM-Wire manufacturing process, as well as the design of advanced motors, generators, and superconducting systems. In 2026, I joined the University of Central Florida as an Adjunct Professor in the ECE Department, where I teach a course on electric machines. I was a member of the editorial board of the IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, serving as Editor for Large-Scale Applications from 2005 to 2019. I am a Senior Member of both IEEE and AIAA and a member of the Cryogenic Society of America. I received the “Outstanding Young Researcher Award” from NASA in 2007 and the Roger W. Boom Award from the Cryogenic Society of America in 2010. I have authored over 50 journal publications and delivered more than 70 conference presentations in the fields of motors and generators, applied superconductivity, and multiphysics modeling. Specialties: Analysis-led design, high-power-density rotating machines, permanent magnet machines, applied superconductivity, power systems, multiphysics simulations, electro-thermal instabilities in superconductors, AC losses, numerical modeling, and permanent magnet manufacturing.
