With 20+ years in engineering leadership, I have run start-up teams of ten and rolled out processes for thousands. My teams have delivered high-scalability web architectures, we have refactored monoliths into SaaS services, and we have built data-driven processes for hiring and performance management. I have mentored and managed other engineering leaders, executed strategic pivots, and led communications for cross-department initiatives. Two common threads connect those diverse experiences: I care deeply about the people, and I'm passionate about building things. An engineering leader’s role is to guide their team to deliver results. I do that by understanding the technology and providing clear vision. I'm a strategic thinker and analytic problem solver. But more importantly, I build a team that can deliver and I create the environment for them to thrive. By providing teams with alignment and accountability, I can also give them autonomy, which brings out their best work. Over many years of ups and downs I’ve seen strong execution and low attrition on my teams, laying the foundation for sustainable delivery.
