About Nate Smith
Nate Smith is Chief Technical Officer at American Reading Company. Location: Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, United States.
As the Chief Technical Officer of American Reading Company, I am focused on creating digital tools that can empower educators and students. Since 2002, I've been building tools that are used by teachers, principals, and district leadership nationwide. I am the creator of SchoolPace, a web-based platform that has been used by schools and districts nation-wide to capture and monitor the reading progress of more than 1,000,000 students. SchoolPace gives educators the ability to conference with students using the common core state standards, deliver embedded assessments, record scores, and view progress reports for students, classrooms, schools, and entire districts. SchoolPace is a labor of love, and a great source of pride. I love sharing SchoolPace with educational leaders across the country. Using their feedback, the platform continually evolves. This tool can change education. In addition, my team developed and launched the eLibraries digital book subscription platform. Working with dozens of educational and trade book publishers, the eLibraries platform brings curated collections of digital books directly into the classroom. Every day, thousands of students read titles on the web, iOS, and Android devices with deep analytics going back to all stakeholders in the district. For parents and guardians, my team built http://www.americanreadingathome.com, the cornerstone of our direct-to-consumer business. Using this resource, parents can find their child's reading level, use videos and coaching tips to help developing readers, and buy "books that fit," written by our talented authors and illustrators. My main goal as a developer and a parent is to continually change education for the better. I work with some really smart people at American Reading Company, and I think we can do just that.
