About Nick Ciubotariu
Nick Ciubotariu is Chief Technology Officer at ShipStation Global. Location: Seattle, Washington, United States.
I’m a tech leader, curious builder, and unrelenting tinkerer. Over two decades, I’ve worked at the intersection of science, technology, and people, shipping software and AI used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide. I'm a lifelong engineer, and I still code every day. I've been working hands-on with algorithmic AI since 2015, generative AI for the past 4 years, and have deployed both successfully at enterprise scale multiple times. In the last 10 years, I’ve focused on AI/ML, NLP, computer vision, large language models and large-scale infrastructure. I'm a named inventor on multiple U.S. patents spanning speech recognition and natural language understanding, ML-driven financial transaction systems, digital asset custody, and streaming encryption: essentially, the software infrastructure that quietly powers things hundreds of millions of people use every day but never think about. I particularly love the intersection of software engineering and AI because it allows you to solve messy human problems with precise, scalable tools. I’ve led very large organizations at Microsoft, Amazon, PayPal, Venmo, Nasdaq, and now Shipstation Global, where I serve as CTO. Along the way, I’ve built everything from talking robots to actual robots, from crypto payments to crypto custody and AI powered stock exchanges, and from machine learning platforms to streaming encryption. More than building technology, I’m passionate about building great teams, developing people, and creating cultures where everyone feels like they can win and have fun at the same time. Outside work, I box, rock climb, cook, play chess, and occasionally edit spy fiction thrillers for friends who may or may not have been actual spies
