Mohammad Waqas is an information security executive with over 15 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry. In his current capacity as the CTO of Healthcare at Armis, Mohammad helps healthcare organizations across the globe with establishing Security Programs around securing unmanaged, IoT and medical devices to achieve effective attack surface reduction. His work stems across Executive Leadership, Biomedical Engineering, and Cybersecurity teams for a holistic assessment and collaborative approach to achieving cyber resilience. He not only looks at the anatomy of cyberattacks on healthcare delivery organizations but also has a passion for protecting patient privacy and the implications of the two on clinical risk management. His drive for securing healthcare environments stems from his previous experience at one of Canada’s leading healthcare organization where he was a Senior Advisor of Information Security, helping implement security solutions, establish governance structures and mature the Information Security program. Mohammad has spoken on the topic of medical device security and the evolving healthcare risk landscape at numerous conferences including: RSA Conference, Black Hat, SecTor, Healthcare Innovations, H-ISAC, AAMI, ACCESS25, Hack The Building 2.0: Hospital Edition, and also featured on several podcasts, webinars, and articles. A life long academic, Mohammad has also authored two major research papers - the first “A Security Analysis of Internet of Vehicles and VANETs” focused on assessing cyber-attacks on autonomous vehicles and proposed cyber attack models,, and the second “Public Safety Broadband Network - A Case Study To Guide Canada’s Implementation” on increasing first responder safety through secure adoption of 5G and IoT technologies. Mohammad holds multiple (ISC)2 designations and an MBA from Ryerson University with a specialization in Information Security.
