Product Development Engineering Leader, specializing in microelectronics, sensors, actuators, and systems which incorporate them. I have led engineering teams in the aerospace, telecom, consumer, and biomedical sectors in taking disruptive new technologies from concept to profitability, generating significant revenue and valuable Intellectual Property. Along the way I have played key roles in product management, systems engineering, technology transfer, fundraising, invention, R&D, team building, due diligence, quality, M&A, and intellectual property management. In the context of seven different companies, my teams have successfully deployed first-of-their-kind products, transferred new technologies to production groups, raised $205M in funding, and sold engineering assets for more than $735M. In 2008 I co-founded Endotronix and led product development there through 2021, and provided part-time technical, management and IP consulting through a $700M exit to Edwards Life Sciences in 2024. Prior to that, as MLN Consulting, Inc, I provided technical and managerial consulting services to several microelectronics based companies, from brand-new startups to major multinationals. Specialties: Product Development from system down to component level. Particular areas of interest are medical devices, systems engineering, microsensors, micro-actuators, MEMS, mixed signal electronics, custom ASICs, sensor interrogation, feedback systems, and advanced packaging. My products have applications in optical telecomm, aerospace, biomedical, and consumer industries.
