About Michael Ehlers

Michael Ehlers is Chief Technology Officer at PlanSource. Location: Greater Chicago Area, United States.

I am a technology executive with more than 30 years of experience helping organizations scale products, teams, and technology platforms while navigating growth, transformation, and change. Over the course of my career, I have led engineering, platform, reliability, and technology organizations across growth-stage, private-equity-backed, and enterprise environments. My experience spans SaaS, HR technology, product development, platform modernization, global delivery, and organizational transformation. Today, as Chief Technology Officer at PlanSource, I lead technology strategy and execution with a focus on building high-performing teams, modern platforms, and AI-enabled organizations. I am particularly passionate about helping organizations adopt emerging technologies in practical and responsible ways. Much of my recent work has centered on AI adoption, organizational readiness, operating model design, and creating environments where teams can move quickly while maintaining quality, resiliency, and customer focus. In addition to my executive responsibilities, I serve as a Director on the board of PlanSource's India-based entity, providing governance, oversight, and strategic guidance for a global technology and services organization. Throughout my career, I have found that technology challenges are rarely just technology challenges. The most meaningful transformations come from aligning people, processes, and technology around a common purpose. I enjoy helping leaders navigate that journey, whether through strategy, organizational design, talent development, or technology modernization. Beyond my professional responsibilities, I have a strong interest in workforce development, mentoring, and expanding access to technology careers. I have supported STEM-focused programs that help create opportunities for individuals who have historically been underrepresented in technology and am passionate about developing the next generation of technology leaders. I also have a longstanding interest in animal welfare and organizations dedicated to improving the lives of animals and supporting the people who care for them, including organizations such as the Wisconsin Humane Society. Areas of interest include: Technology Strategy AI Adoption & Organizational Transformation SaaS & Product Development Engineering & Platform Leadership Workforce Development Talent & Leadership Development Advisory & Board Service
