About Michael Dowdell
Michael Dowdell is Founder/CTO at Rescue Workflow LLC. Location: Vista, California, United States.
I'm a Software Architect / Principal Software Engineer with more than 25 years of experience designing and building enterprise software, distributed systems, and cloud platforms. Over the past 15 years at Blackbaud, I've architected and delivered scalable backend services, data platforms, and customer-supporting applications that support enterprise SaaS workloads at Fortune 500 scale. My background spans the evolution of modern software engineering—from early content delivery networks and streaming infrastructure at companies like Akamai and Inktomi to today's cloud-native microservices, event-driven architectures, and AI-powered applications. I enjoy solving complex technical challenges, modernizing legacy systems, and designing software that's reliable, maintainable, and built to scale. Most recently, I've been leading the development of AI-enabled products, integrating Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, and Google Gemini into production workflows. My focus is on applying AI where it creates measurable value—improving developer productivity, automating business processes, and delivering better customer experiences rather than adopting AI for its own sake. My technical expertise includes C#/.NET, Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Azure Cosmos DB, REST APIs, distributed systems, cloud architecture, CI/CD, and modern software engineering practices. I'm equally comfortable designing system architecture, writing production code, mentoring engineers, and partnering with stakeholders to turn business goals into scalable technical solutions. I'm always interested in connecting with organizations tackling challenging engineering problems and building products that make a meaningful impact.
