Jose De Jesus is CTO AI & Automation, IBM Technology Expert Labs at IBM. Location: Miami-Fort Lauderdale Area, United States.

I serve as CTO of AI & Automation for IBM Technology Expert Labs, providing technical leadership in enterprise AI, agentic AI systems, watsonx Orchestrate, AI governance, intelligent automation, and AI engineering. My work focuses on helping organizations move AI systems from promising prototypes to dependable production solutions. This includes architecture, testing and evaluation, CI/CD, observability, governance, security, operational readiness, and the creation of reusable engineering methods that can be applied across clients, industries, and geographies. I am the creator and lead architect of several technical platforms and frameworks, including an Enterprise Agentic AI Engineering Framework and watsonx Orchestrate testing platform, the AI Governance Suite, the Holistic Return on Ethics ROI Calculator, and the Hyper Learning Platform. These initiatives connect client delivery, software engineering, responsible AI research, reusable intellectual capital, and practitioner enablement. I collaborate with IBM Fellows, product engineering teams, academic researchers, and technical practitioners to turn emerging ideas into practical systems, tools, and guidance. My current research and development interests include reliable agentic AI, AI evaluation, operational AI governance, stakeholder impact, organizational trust, AI-assisted software engineering, and governed reasoning architectures. I am also an author, educator, and mentor. I co-authored Build Your Own AI with retired IBM Fellow Jerry Cuomo and am writing Closing the AI Trust Gap, a Manning book focused on reliable, observable, and governable AI systems. With IBM Fellow Mark Wegman, I co-created PracticalVibeCoding.com to help practitioners use AI as a development partner while preserving architecture, quality, security, and human judgment. Throughout my IBM career, I have directly mentored more than 30 practitioners, including in successful Expert and Thought Leader certifications. I have also created mentoring circles, worldwide enablement programs, technical portals, learning platforms, and certification initiatives that helped scale technical excellence across organizations and geographies.
