About James Hunt
James Hunt is Chief Technology Officer at Valiantys Federal. Location: Longmont, Colorado, United States.
I build governance programs that engineers actually trust, because I've spent twenty years as one. As CISO of Trust|Stack and CTO of Valiantys Federal, I own the full enterprise GRC lifecycle: security policy frameworks, risk management, control implementation, continuous monitoring, and authorization. Under my leadership, Trust|Stack achieved federal security authorization at the highest operational classification level, validating the platform’s compliance posture under rigorous external scrutiny. What distinguishes my approach is that compliance is an engineering problem, not a documentation exercise. Earlier in my career, I built automated data center deployment systems that embedded pre-approved security overlays directly into provisioning pipelines, security controls applied at provisioning time, not retrofitted afterward. I have built security control monitoring across large VM fleets with auto-generated compliance reports delivered to security officers at every deployment event. Today that same instinct drives automated risk assessment workflows, real-time CVE notification pipelines, and an enterprise continuous monitoring stack (Splunk, Nessus, Opsview). Beyond technical GRC, I hold formal enterprise governance roles managing foreign influence risk, regulatory obligations, and third-party risk for a multinational organization, leading multiple directors across engineering, services, and security. Open to connecting with leaders working at the intersection of security governance and engineering-driven compliance.
