About Jeff Fraser
Jeff Fraser is Chief Technology Officer at Veracross. Location: United States.
I've spent my entire career building technology that helps schools work better. In 2008, I joined Veracross as one of the company's first engineers. What started as a plan to stay for a year before starting a PhD graduate program in mathematics turned into a journey from writing some of the earliest lines of code to leading the entire technology organization as CTO. Along the way, I've had the privilege of scaling a small founding team into a global engineering organization with people across the US, UK, Australia, and Latin America — shipping products in 5+ portfolios that serve thousands of K-12 schools worldwide. I've led technical due diligence and integration for multiple acquisitions (including Veracross's transition to private equity) that expanded our platform from a single SIS into a comprehensive ecosystem spanning student information, health records, learning management, school communications, payment processing, and more. What drives me today: → People & Culture: The thing I'm most proud of is the team. Many of the engineers I hired or mentored early on are now running major parts of the organization. Building an environment where talented people can grow and do their best work is what makes everything else possible. → AI in School Operations: I believe AI will fundamentally transform how schools operate, and I want to make sure that transformation is thoughtful, secure, and genuinely useful. → Platform at Scale: I oversee a $20M R&D organization across engineering, QA, DevOps, and application security, while maintaining expenses at a healthy percentage of ARR. → FinTech for Schools: We've built a payments and billing product line from the ground up, processing billions of dollars per year in the US, UK, and Australian markets. → Software Architecture: Nothing succeeds without scalable, sustainable software architectures. I love architecting new solutions and staying close to the code. Before all of this, I studied mathematics — which taught me to think clearly about complex problems. That's served me well whether I'm optimizing database queries, presenting to the board, or figuring out how to integrate a newly acquired company's engineering team. I'm always happy to connect with people working in EdTech, FinTech, engineering leadership, or AI product strategy.
