About Ievgenii Liashenko
Ievgenii Liashenko is Founder and CTO at VivoTex. Location: Eugene, Oregon, United States.
Inventor of ultra-fast 3D printing technology, providing submicron resolution, where electrohydrodynamic (EHD) jet is deflected electrostatically to print with micron-level precision. Enormous accelerations reached allow printing up to few thousand nanofiber layers per second. This technology was published in Nature Communications (IF=16) and is protected by 2 patents. My second contribution is in Melt Electrowriting, where I developed the layer shifting approach, which dramatically expands the possible printed geometries and was published in Advanced Materials (IF=30). During my PhD I worked with Prof. Andreu Cabot (Functional Nanomaterials group, IREC, Barcelona) and Prof. Joan Rosell (DEW group - Droplets, intErfaces and floWs, URV, Tarragona). My primary area of expertise is EHD 3D printing (also called near-field electrospinning), using solvent-based inks. As a visiting researcher, I also worked on Melt Electrowriting with Prof. Paul Dalton (Biofabrication lab, Wuerzburg University). Furthermore, thanks to DEW group, I possess in-depth understanding of electrospinning, electrospray and underlying phenomena. InnoEnergy PhD School complemented my professional development with essential entrepreneurial, business innovation and personal skills to help transfer research results from lab to the market. _________________________________ Background and motivation: My background is a wild mix of Chemical Engineering (B.Sc.), Mechanical Engineering (1st M.Sc) and Material Science/Rheology (2nd M.Sc), all with honors degrees. I see my core strength in being passionate about research: I love working with ideas, drawing concepts from different fields, continuously learning from smart people around and sharing my knowledge, as well as communicating the beauty of science to the wider public. I strive to expand our body of knowledge and I am driven by curiosity and the pursuit of fun in everything I'm doing.
