I build AI that watches over physical infrastructure. I'm an AI research scientist with an unusual combination: a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (thesis: AI and Robotics for Infrastructure Management) and 8+ years shipping production AI — from deep-learning research cited 1,500+ times to systems deployed on drones, embedded boards, and mobile devices. What I've done: • Authored a top-10 most-cited Civil Engineering article (Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, 2017–2018) and two Automation in Construction papers on crack segmentation and autonomous UAV structural inspection — plus a U.S. patent application on AI-based inspection imaging. • Led a 10-person AI team at Ericsson (Senior Research Scientist, L7) building production generative-video systems — deepfake generation & detection, voice cloning, super-resolution — on a 20TB proprietary dataset. • Shipped drone-based infrastructure inspection AI at Qii.ai: defect segmentation across 6+ government and industry projects, autonomous UAV power-line inspection, and a win in the Royal Canadian Navy's fleet corrosion-detection competition. • Built structural damage-detection pipelines at T2D2.ai; advised Pickle (YC Spring 2025) on real-time AI avatar streaming. • Currently teach LLMs and applied AI (Kookmin University PBL, Irvine) while researching on-device small language models — 3 papers under review as corresponding author. Where I'm headed: senior AI roles where infrastructure meets AI — smart cities, geospatial intelligence, energy-asset integrity, and construction tech. That's where my two worlds compound: I speak both reinforced concrete and transformer architectures.
