I am a serial entrepreneur, startup advisor, and one of the leading SaaS, Mobile, and M2M / IoT experts having successfully commercialized several scalable and secure systems over the last 20 years. I have founded and bootstrapped startups, and been a founder and C level executive at startups that have raised friends and family, angel, and VC funding totaling over 30MM with several successful exits. I also served as VP/CTO of the 300MM Merchandising System’s division of CraneCo (NYSE: CR). I have spent most of my career as a co-founder in startups, running my consulting company, CTO Services (www.ctoserv.com), and mentoring early stage startups. As a technical leader I have architected and recruited/managed engineering teams to build just about everything: • SaaS, cloud, and mobile (iOS and Android) software utilizing both Open Source and MS platforms; • High availability, high scalability, and extremely secure systems; • Device hardware, industrial design, electrical, and software / firmware; • IoT utilizing cellular, BLE, WiFi, ZigBee and industry specific hardware interfaces; • Complex software integrations with Oracle Financials, PeopleSoft, SAP, and defining REST API's. As a C-level executive or founder I have... • Pitched to investors, large customers, and Fortune 500 companies, and can translate between “business” and “techie speak”; • Served as the major account and technical salesperson; • Motivated teams by treating people fairly and making the work environment exciting and fun; • Managed key relationships and contracts with strategic partners in wireless and credit card processing. As a mentor, formal advisor or board member to early stage companies, I help with all aspects of getting a company off the ground, focusing mainly on technology, fundraising, and intellectual capital (hiring, outsourcing on/off shore).
