Gianni Barkett is an information technology specialist with more than 25 years of experience building the back-office automation systems for AOCUSA f/ka AMALIE Oil Company. Today, he is chief technology officer (CTO) for AMALIE and is heavily involved in the integration of new business lines and acquisition activities. His service to this family-owned enterprise has helped position the 120-year-old company into a leadership position with the introduction of innovative business software and hardware technologies. Barkett joined the family business while enrolled in a local college. He began his career working as a line operator on the floor of AOCUSA’s manufacturing plant where he was directly involved with industrial automation. He soon became versed in client/server architecture, as well as desktop, server and networking disciplines. Barkett was promoted to become director of information technology and in that position, created the company’s business intelligence division through a homegrown suite of applications designed to aggregate various company data sets. He would later architect a business-to-business online ordering portal as well as implement an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and later, he executed an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application that introduced wireless inventory systems. Promoted in 2007 to CTO, Barkett built a world-class team of computer analysts and information specialists to ensure AOCUSA maintains the highest standards of business practices. He has 3 major ERP implementations/upgrades under his belt and has successfully converted AOCUSA's physical datacenters into a hardened dual-cloud strategy utilizing virtual and native services from both Azure and AWS.
