I grew up watching my father invent, and somewhere I developed a love of engineering that makes life better for people. My first real project was a homegrown ERP I built to track components in PCB manufacturing. Unglamorous problem, real constraints, had to actually work. From there I’ve been fortunate to learn the lessons that come from the many failures and some successes of putting software in people’s hands. I've spent the last fifteen years leading engineering organizations across AdTech, MedTech, Banking, and FinTech, on four continents, building products and the teams that ship them. What I've learned doing that is: technology alone doesn't move organizations. The gap between a good idea and a great product is almost never solely technical. It's the quality of thinking, the clarity of direction, and how well product, design, and engineering hold the problem together instead of passing it between lanes. That's the thing I care most about right now. I'm CTO at CINC Systems, working at the intersection of AI and community association management to make life a little less tedious and a little more meaningful. The technical problems are interesting. The organizational and product ones are harder and more interesting. I write about what AI is actually changing for engineering leaders - not the hype, the operational reality. Originally from New York, currently based in Austin TX.
