About Dominick Profico

Here's the pattern I keep seeing: companies are spending real money on engineering and AI, shipping plenty of software, and still not getting the outcomes the spend should buy. The code compiles. The dashboards populate. The platforms run. And somehow the business case never quite lands. That gap usually isn't a tooling problem. It's a governance problem. AI has made it cheap to produce code and expensive to trust it. The teams winning right now aren't the ones with the most tools. They're the ones who built the system that decides what good looks like and holds the line on it. That's the work I do. I lead AI, Data, and Digital Engineering at Bridgenext, helping enterprises move from "we have AI in the building" to "AI is changing how we deliver and what it costs us to deliver." In practice that means designing how human and machine contributors actually work together, putting governance where it earns its keep instead of where it slows everyone down, and tying engineering decisions back to a P&L instead of a roadmap. I came up as an engineer, not a slide-maker. Fifteen years in R&D at Lockheed Martin, then close to a decade scaling global engineering organizations through acquisition and growth; across defense, healthcare, retail, CPG, banking, and insurance. That breadth taught me something I still hold to: good engineering is good engineering, regardless of the industry it sits in. I've grown teams, cut attrition nearly in half, scaled certified architects from a couple dozen to a couple hundred in under a year, and sat on the other side of more solution reviews than I can count. I still do my best work in front of a whiteboard with a customer, working the problem until it's solved; and I spend a good chunk of my time doing exactly that, along with mentoring the engineering leaders coming up behind me. I think in systems and I think in outcomes, and I'm allergic to AI theater dressed up as transformation. Outside of work, my wife and I run a small farm; 20 acres and counting, currently home to 40 chickens. She's a nurse with a vision to grow it into a care farm for people managing anxiety and PTSD. It's a long way from enterprise architecture, and that's exactly why I like it. If your engineering setup works but isn't winning, and AI is widening the gap rather than closing it, that's a conversation worth having. Reach out.
