About Chris Kovel

Chris Kovel is CTO at PJT Partners. Location: Montclair, New Jersey, United States.

I've spent 30 years building technology for financial services — the last six as Chief Technology Officer of PJT Partners, a global, publicly traded investment bank, including four years serving concurrently as acting Chief Information Security Officer. My current focus is generative AI: deploying Claude firmwide, building LLM-powered analytics and applications hands-on, and establishing the governance and risk framework that makes AI work in a regulated environment. Before PJT, I spent twenty years at Morgan Stanley, ultimately leading AI, analytics, and data technology for Wealth Management, a 900+ person organization running machine learning in production years before the generative AI era, including the award-winning Next Best Action platform deployed to 24,000 advisor desktops. Earlier, I designed and built Google's SEC-approved Transferable Stock Option trading platform, for which I hold the patent. I care most about technology that touches the business: platforms that make bankers faster, security that holds up under real attack, and AI that actually ships.
