Commerce platforms are how I think. For 25 years I've built and led the engineering organizations behind some of retail's most complex commerce systems; Kindle's catalog at Amazon, the buy-box and 8-billion-events-per-day pricing engines at Sears, Dell's $18B commerce platform, Holland & Barrett's bespoke catalog/price/promotions stack, and Rangespan's SaaS catalog and order management for UK retailers (acquired by Google). I'm an international operator by training and by preference. I've built and led engineering organizations across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, including teams in the US, UK, Ireland, Serbia, India, Malaysia, Brazil, Ukraine, and Canada, with head-of-engineering roles split between Chicago, India and London for Holland & Barrett, CTO in London at Rangespan, and Amazon enterprise work supporting M&S, Mothercare, and BT in the UK. What energizes me: Globally distributed businesses and the engineering challenges that come with operating across continents. What I bring is: Commerce/retail platform depth; catalog, marketplace, pricing, promotions, fulfillment, search, supply chain, plus patents in fulfillment and cross-device behavioral tracking. Global team-building and turnaround experience, most recently at Affinitiv where attrition fell from 25% to 0% in six months, Glassdoor moved from 1.8 to 3.3, and AWS spend dropped roughly 40% YoY.
