Things evolve very quickly, and you need to be able to digest and determine appropriate inflection points for the business- both organic and inorganic. Grounded approach given the reality that most businesses are for-profit, so balancing the technology overlay with fiscal objectives of the business is critical. Cross-functional coordination is a must to be successful, as no one group has all the answers.
